On August 14, the Ad Council publicly announced their partnership with a coalition of more than 35 leading dental organizations to launch the First Campaign on Children’s Oral Health.

Of course we also need to instill in our kids the importance of flossing every day and visiting our dentist on the regular. But don’t take it from us – here is the what, when, and how…

Brush 2x per day for 2 minutes!

The Partnership for Healthy Mouths, Healthy Lives, along with the Ad Council and leading dental health organizations including the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Dental Association, and America’s Tooth Fairy to name a few, have launched a national campaign to improve children’s oral health.

This inaugural national multimedia public service campaign is designed to teach parents and caregivers, as well as children, about the importance of oral health and the simple ways in which they can help prevent oral disease.

Did you know pediatric dental disease is 5 times more common than asthma and 7 times more common than hay fever?

The connection between oral health and overall health is one we as dental patients are only beginning to learn more about. We need to talk to our doctors and dentists more, and our doctors and dentists need to communicate with us more too.

Just don’t dismiss the adult and kids dental health & overall health communications that get sent our way – we need to open up and take some time to educate ourselves – if not for us, for the children!

Next time you pony up to the sink with your youngster, maybe bring it back to the old school and show them this 2 minute Looney Tunes video to keep them on the clock!
