I Heart the Dentist!

Posted on February 15, 2011 | in Give Back | by

What started as a small charity event held at a single suburan Tampa dental office, has grown to a national non-profit organization providing free dental care to more than 30,000 patients in need at over 300 different locations across the country. This Valentine’s Day marks the tenth anniversary for Dentistry from the Heart™, a now nationwide effort dedicated to providing free dental care to those who need it.

Dr. Vincent Monticciolo is the Florida dentist responsible for the ten million dollars (and growing) worth of free dentistry given away since he first started the organization back in  2001. Dr. Monticciolo and dental his team ran the first event out of his New Port Richey, FL dental office – Monticciolo Family and Sedation Dentistry.

This past Friday marked the 10th anniversary for Dentistry from the Heart™, to commemorate the occasion Dr. Monticciolo and his team once again hosted their own event at the original New Port Richey dental office. Lines were around the corner starting the morning before the event – the day before, in the morning, that is. According to the local news media, the 1oth Anniversary event totaled 525 patients that received free dental care, for a total exceeding $200,000 worth of dentistry.

If you’re were anywhere near the Tampa last Friday (2/11), you surely saw it on the news…if you think it’s a good idea, take 2 seconds and ‘Like’ the DFTH organization on Facebook! We’re sure they’d appreciate it.
